El Grande Americano is now a champion in WWE, with the masked star defeating another luchador to win the gold.
The lucha libre sensation has been on a hot streak since arriving in WWE, notably defeating Rey Fenix at WrestleMania 41.
His momentum hasn’t ran out yet, with El Grande Americano picking up some new hardware in the wake of this victory.
On the May 7 edition of WWE Speed, El Grande Americano challenged for Dragon Lee’s WWE Speed Championship.
The challenger was ultimately victorious, pinning Dragon Lee to win the gold.
The closing moments of the match saw Dragon Lee attempt to unmask El Grande Americano. While the referee warned Lee, Americano once again slipped a foreign object into his mask, before hitting a diving headbutt to end Lee’s title reign.
El Grande Americano is the fourth WWE Speed Champion, following the reigns of Ricochet, Andrade and Dragon Lee.
This match was taped ahead of the Monday, May 5 Raw episode.
The current WWE Speed Women’s Champion is NXT’s Sol Ruca, who is also the NXT Women’s North American Champion.
