Elias To Undergo Name Change Ahead Of WWE Return?

An update has emerged on the WWE status of Elias, and potential plans for his return to TV.

Elias last wrestled on the July 19, 2021 episode of Raw, losing to the since-released Jaxson Ryker in a Symphony of Destruction match.

In December, WrestleVotes revealed that Elias was initially set to return with a look similar to the Macho Man, but Vince McMahon scrapped plans because he didn’t like the look.

Fightful Select (subscription required) now reports that Elias vignettes have been filmed, and has a Raw return tentatively planned, however, a WWE source reportedly told them that this “doesn’t really mean anything until firm plans are set.”

The report noted that a name change has been pitched, with the suggested name currently unknown.

Ringside News previously reported that Elias had been spotted backstage in December, with no beard and cropped hair.
