Back in June, WWE confirmed that both Paul Heyman and Eric Bischoff had been hired as Executive Directors of Raw and Smackdown respectively.
Very soon after we started seeing Paul Heyman push his favoured superstars on Raw. Cedric Alexander, Ricochet and Braun Strowman all starting picking up wins on Monday nights. However, Eric Bischoff’s influence over Smackdown wasn’t clear.
Eric Bischoff was replaced by Bruce Prichard as Smackdown’s Executive Director last month. Since then, Bischoff has spoken to Fightful about what his WWE role entailed:
“I wasn’t hired necessarily to takeover creative. I was brought up more to manage the process. And that was clear to me in the beginning. None of the creative that you saw had anything to do with me, good or bad.”
Bischoff was hired to be a representative for WWE with FOX ahead of Smackdown’s move to the network. He was not involved in the creative process on the blue brand.
One of the major storylines on Smackdown over the Summer involved Roman Reigns being attacked backstage. The storyline lasted several weeks.
Speaking about the storyline, Bischoff said he had absolutely nothing to do with it:
“It wasn’t my idea. I had nothing to do with it. Not a thing.”
