Someone who paid very close attention to the early days of DX during the Attitude Era was Eric Bischoff. Now, he has revealed that he is of the opinion that X-Pac got the group over more than Triple H or Shawn Michaels.
Speaking on his 83 Weeks podcast, Bischoff said X-Pac added a level of credibility to the group. Here is the quote, courtesy of 411mania:
“I think what got DX over more than anything – more than Triple H, more than Shawn Michaels – was Sean Waltman. I think that added a level of credibility when that happened and just made it feel more real. It brought more of an edgy character with it. I think because of the way he left WCW and the rhetoric back and forth and all that. But it felt like war, and it felt like it should’ve felt during the Monday Night War era.”
X-Pac’s return to the WWF took place the night after WrestleMania XIV when he joined his friend Triple H in DX. This was the night after Shawn Michaels was forced into retirement due to a back injury. Later that night the New Age Outlaws joined the group as well.
