ESPN now recognises WWE as a Sports Humanitarian League Champion for its community work.
Ahead of the ESPYS, ESPN shared a video on social media announcing the honor, writing:
As part of the #SportsHumanitarian Awards, ESPN is recognizing @WWE as a Sports Humanitarian League Champion for its commitment to bring communities together by giving back, providing hope, creating inclusion, empowering communities & recognizing service both near & far.
Interim WWE Chairwoman and CEO Stephanie McMahon has commented on the honor, tweeting:
At our very core, @WWE’s mission is to put smiles on faces the world over. I am so proud of the work
@WWECommunity continues to do every day to change lives through service. Thank you for this incredible honor, @ESPNCitizenship!
WWE Warrior Award recipient Titus O’Neil was notably a finalist for the Muhammed Ali Sports Humanitarian Award last year.
The ESPYs award ceremony takes place on July 20. In the lead-up to the event, fans can vote on the nominees for the Best WWE Moment award.
