WWE Raw star Ethan Page has shared his first comments after losing to Intercontinental Champion Penta at Saturday Night’s Main Event.

Following Page pinning Penta in tag-team action on the May 4 Raw episode in his second match as a main roster talent, the recent NXT call-up challenged for the Intercontinental Championship at the May 23 Saturday Night’s Main Event special.

Page was ultimately unsuccessful, with Penta retaining his gold after 14 minutes of action.

In a new backstage video shared by Page himself, the title challenger addressed his loss, stating that his loss is something he can easily correct.

The former NXT North American Champion said:

“Honestly, I’ve just been kind of practicing a victory speech. I didn’t really think about what to complain about, who to blame or where to point my finger.

“I could easily throw this masked prick under the bus for stealing a move from my home country of Canada, renaming it Mexican and then beating me with it. I could definitely complain about that.

“I think the biggest complaint is that the Intercontinental Championship finally got the spotlight it deserved, Saturday Night’s Main Event, in a match with Ethan Page’s name on the marquee, exactly what the Intercontinental Championship deserves.

“A man that doesn’t hide his face, a man that will carry it with pride, and a man that would take it around the globe, and fight anybody and everybody for it. That is what I’m upset about. But that is something I can easily correct.”

While Page did lose at Saturday Night’s Main Event, it still seems like big things are in his future, after competing in the third-longest match of the night.

Prior to the show, it was reported that Page had been described as “extremely respectful and detail-oriented behind the scenes”, with sources telling WrestleVotes that they feel Page had positioned himself very well following his call-up.

This positive internal reception to Ethan Page indicates that he’s somebody who the company can trust, so his recent championship feud will likely be the first of many in WWE.
