Raw star Eva Marie has revealed that WWE Chairman Vince McMahon reached out to her about a return to the company.
Following reports that Eva Marie was preparing to return to WWE, a vignette aired in May, teasing her arrival on Raw. Speaking on Oral Sessions, Marie revealed that she kept in contact with Vince McMahon while away from the company.
Noting that she always made it clear that the door was open on her end, Eva Marie said:
“I had a conversation with Vince via email. That’s how it started. I always kept in contact via email about things I was doing outside of WWE, making sure he was fully aware that Eva Marie was ready and willing to come back whenever you see fit. That door is open on my end.
“It’s one of those things that if you want something, go ask for it or go get it, and make sure that other person or avenue knows about it so that way they’re not fully closed off. What’s the worst that can happen? You’re just in the position you were in before originally.”
Following Marie’s return, Doudrop (formerly NXT UK’s Piper Niven) made her Raw debut as Marie’s protégé. At SummerSlam, Doudrop turned her back on Marie following friction within the partnership.
Marie has discussed original plans for the Doudrop storyline, stating that the duo were meant to “take over the locker room“.
