Evolution Scheduled To Go Over Three Hours

Evolution Scheduled To Go Over Three Hours

There is a sense that WWE’s first-ever all-women pay-per-view Evolution has been rather dumped on the backburner in recent weeks.

WWE has had its focus split several ways by Super Showdown, the never ending issues with Saudi Arabia supercard Crown Jewel, myriad injury problems, SmackDown 1000 (which was also largely ignored) and now the horrible news about Roman Reigns.

It’s been difficult for the promotion to focus on what should be a celebratory event.

As a result the anticipation for the historic show is disappointingly low. What fans were promised (over 50 wrestlers, every female on the roster, every women’s title defended) has hardly come to pass and the card WWE have churned out feels like an all-female episode of Raw or SmackDown rather than a must-see pay-per-view event.

In short, it has been a bit of a shambles.

WWE would never ever say as such but it seems like they feel the same way too. After all, were it still a major focus then Stephanie McMahon would remain at the front and centre of the promotion, but she has barely been around since the initial announcement.

It’s almost as if WWE is keeping her away because it has become evident that Evolution’s existence is little more than a transparent attempt to smooth over their running an all-male event five days later. If they do go ahead with the Saudi show, bad PR that will inevitably follow. WWE will do everything they can to distance Stephanie from that.

Nevertheless, the supercard won’t be getting short-changed on time at least.

Like every WWE pay-per-view these days, fans will be super-served content, with the show scheduled to run for three-and-a-half hours! Blimey.

Evolution is currently listed for a 7pm (Eastern) until 10:30pm running time, with the debuting House Hardy special airing immediately after the show.

The full card for Evolution is as follows:

  • Ronda Rousey vs. Nikki Bella – Raw Women’s Title
  • Becky Lynch vs. Charlotte Flair – SmackDown Women’s Title
  • Kairi Sane vs. Shayna Baszler – NXT Women’s Title
  • Rhea Ripley vs. Isla Dawn – NXT UK Women’s Title
  • Lita & Trish Stratus vs. Alexa Bliss & Mickie James
  • Sasha Banks, Bayley & Natalya vs. The Riott Squad
  • Mae Young Classic Final
  • Battle Royal
