On this week’s episode of NXT on the USA Network, Angel Garza defeated Tony Nese in a cracking TV match. As a result, Garza has earned a shot at Lio Rush’s NXT Cruiserweight Championship.
With NXT TakeOver: War Games III having two big multi-person matches, many speculated that a Cruiserweight title match would be added to the show to be sandwiched in between the two War Games matches.
However, WWE announced after the match last night that Garza will go one-on-one with Lio Rush for the title on next week’s show.
Following his win, Garza opted to slap Lio Rush instead of shaking his hand at the top of the stage last night.

This match should be very very good. Lio Rush has proved since his return to NXT that he is one of the best cruiserweights in the company. Moreover, WWE has been pushing Garza a lot recently, so expect this match to be given some time.
As if this wasn’t enough, WWE also announced that Mia Yim will be going head-to-head with Io Shirai in a ladder match on next week’s show.

Yim will be representing Rhea Ripley’s team at NXT TakeOver: War Games, while Io Shirai was selected by Shayna Baszler.
The winner of the match will earn the advantage for their respective team in the first-ever women’s War Games match later on this month.
