It was reported recently that AEW’s likely television network destination in October would be Turner Broadcasting, after the network listed AEW as part of its upcoming Upfronts on May 15.
It has since been stated that while the Turner channels TNT and TBS remain the favourites to land the promotion, no deal is yet in place and that there is also another offer on the table from another network.
WrestleTalk has exclusively learned that the station AEW will air on should it land on Turner will come down to the level of talent the promotion is able to attract in the coming weeks. One inside source close to the situation told us:
“It’s looking good. Whether or not the channel will be TNT or TBS hinges on the roster of talent they can get; whether they can get a big enough roster of wrestlers and enough recognisable ones. It’s a good deal for the network because they can make money in other ways, not just ad sales.”

AEW already has several big names attached to the brand, including Chris Jericho, Kenny Omega, Jim Ross, Cody, PAC and The Young Bucks, in addition to several names who have thrived on the independent circuits in the UK, the US and Japan.
With so many names reportedly unhappy in WWE and several stars looking to leave the promotion when their contracts expire, it seems inevitable that some of them will end up landing in AEW if the opportunity arises.
