UPDATE – Clarification on this story has emerged – read more here.
There has been some speculation and talk regarding one very specific detail in the press release that WWE sent out today announcing Stephanie McMahon’s appointment as interim CEO and Chairwoman.
One curious thing that people have noticed is that Stephanie was referred to as “Ms McMahon”, not “Mrs”. “Ms” is usually considered the standard title for a woman who is unmarried but can still be used by married women in some circumstances.
According to PWInsider, the reasoning for this is currently unknown but it has ” raised eyebrows” among people in the company. Mike Johnson wrote:
Good question and you are not alone asking that this morning. It’s also not one that WWE is going to publicly address, especially right now. I honestly don’t know if we’ve missed something but there’s been eyebrows raised by some in the company this morning and it’s the last thing WWE is going to comment on with all else going on.
