Star Who Worked With CM Punk Offers Insight Into Scrum Fallout AEW

Former WWE NXT star Fandango, who previously worked alongside CM Punk, has offered a personal perspective on the star following the All Out media scrum.

Speaking on Cafe De Rene with Rene Dupree, Fandango described his relationship with CM Punk as being “close” in the past, though they have fallen out of touch in recent years.

In reference to the backstage fracas that occurred after All Out, Fandango offered his take, saying:

“He seemed really unhappy. I understand both points of view in that situation. I’m obviously not there, I don’t really know everybody, I don’t know the situation 100%. But I’m f**king weird and old school … I don’t like guys f**king hazing people or like, threatening people, but sometimes a little animosity backstage brings out some competitiveness in the locker room.

“Because if there’s some guy that I have a little beef with, bro, and I’m working him, like, I’ll never stiff him, but I’m gonna try to outwork the motherf**ker. I’m gonna try to have a better match than him.”

It sounds as though Fandango is doing his best to remain on the fence, yet he seems to think calling out your opponent is not the way to go.

He did offer positive vibes to CM Punk, however, saying, “I hope he finds what he’s looking for and I hope he finds happiness.”

CM Punk was stripped of the AEW World Championship following his latest ‘pipe bomb’ – he would have had to vacate the title anyway due to suffering a torn bicep during his match at All Out, but judging by the fact Kenny Omega and the Young Bucks were also stripped of the Trios Championship, it does seem Punk would have had to give up the world title even if he hadn’t suffered the injury.

Those involved in the backstage altercation, including Kenny Omega and The Young Bucks, were all suspended. As of last word, Punk, Ace Steel, Omega and the Bucks are still suspended while the investigation is ongoing.

A new photo recently emerged of CM Punk, showing that he is indeed recovering from surgery for the injury sustained during All Out.

It remains to be seen what the future will hold for the star at AEW and beyond after a much-hyped return to the ring in 2021.
