We are now officially less than a week away from WWE SummerSlam in Las Vegas, where WWE Champion Bobby Lashley is set to defend his championship against Goldberg.
An interesting statistic regarding this WWE Championship match has come to light. With Bobby Lashley at 45 years of age, and Goldberg at 54, this match will be the second oldest combined age for two wrestlers in a WWE Championship match.
The first took place on May 13, 2002, when then-48-year-old WWE Champion Hulk Hogan defended his championship against 53-year-old Ric Flair.
With statistics like this making the rounds, it’s no surprise that WWE has changed their hiring philosophy to focus on younger stars.
WWE SummerSlam streams live on Saturday, August 21 on WWE Network and Peacock in the United States.
