It’s safe to say that the Royal Rumble matches are two of the most anticipated matches in all of wrestling each year. The annual battle royals are a source of excitement, fun and endless counting down from 10 to zero, so what’s not to love.
Last year we saw WWE’s new power couple win the match, with Seth Rollins and Becky Lynch both winning and both going on to win the company’s top championships at WrestleMania 35.
This year, there are reports that an NXT star could win the match for the first time in history.
According to the latest SkyBet odds, Shayna Baszler is the overwhelming favourite to win the Women’s Royal Rumble match this year, with odds of 1/3.
Second favourite is Ronda Rousey at 9/2, which illustrates just how much of a clear favourite Baszler now is to win the match and secure a title match at WrestleMania.
The top five for the women’s match are Bazsler, Rousey, Charlotte Flair, Paige and Rhea Ripley, all of whom would be first time winners.
On the men’s side there are fewer surprises, with Roman Reigns being the clear favourite at 4/6. This would be Reigns’ second Rumble win, and would likely be welcomed a bit more warmly than his last.
CM Punk is second favourite at 4/1, Drew McIntyre comes in at 5/1, Cain Velasquex at 6/1 and WWE Champion Brock Lesnar is fifth favourite at 7/1.
In the other matches, Bray Wyatt and Becky Lynch are favourites to retain their championships against Daniel Bryan and Asuka respectively, Roman Reigns is a slight favourite to beat Baron Corbin, and Bayley is expected to retain against Lacey Evans.
