ROH has announced PCO, Mark Haskins, Colt Cabana, and Bandido will join the previous 4 entrants in the #1 Contender’s Tournament. PCO, Haskins, and Bandido are some of the newest wrestlers to join ROH in 2019. The winner of the tournament will face the ROH World Champion in the Main Event of Final Battle in December.
2 members of LifeBlood and 2 members of Villain Enterprises are in the tournament. This could me we could see faction member vs. faction member at some point in the tournament. Those matches are always interesting in the G1 Climax in NJPW. Will ROH take a page out of their partner’s playbook?

Colt Cabana seems like a bit of a surprise entrant in the tournament given who all is on their current roster. After the recent signing of Joe Hendry, he seems like he would have been a candidate to have solidified in the tournament. However, if he’s not planned to win, having him lose in the tournament might not be the best idea.
Other surprising names not in the tournament are Tracey Williams and Jeff Cobb. However, the most surprising name not in the tournament is RUSH. RUSH made his intentions known about challenging for the Ring of Honor Title recently and shouldn’t be waiting until December to get his shot. Given Matt Taven’s contract status, it might be RUSH who these men are battling to face.
This tournament may tell us a lot about the future plans for ROH. Will a veteran like Lethal or Kenny King come out on top? Or, will ROH turn to a fresh face to put in the main event scene? The bracket will be revealed on Monday. Stay tuned to WrestleTalk for more information.
