Finn Balor has commented on bringing back the ‘Demon’ for his match against Dominik Mysterio at WWE WrestleMania 42.

Balor will be bringing back his usually dominant Demon persona for the first time in three years for this weekend’s WrestleMania event, hoping to end a run of two straight losses as the Demon to Roman Reigns and Edge in the character’s most recent outings.

Appearing on ESPN SportsCenter today, Balor was asked what the Demon persona means and why he brought it back to face Mysterio.

He said:

“It’s not something that I can really describe in words. It’s a feeling. It’s an emotion. It’s an energy.

“And it’s something that I can only tap into very occasionally. It can be very draining.

“But trust me, it’s gonna be very painful for Dominik Mysterio.”

The match between Balor and Mysterio has been building for over a year when Mysterio pinned Balor to win the WWE Intercontinental Championship four-way at WrestleMania 41.

Can The ‘Demon’ Lose To Dominik Mysterio

If Finn Balor’s ‘Demon’ persona loses to Dominik Mysterio at WWE WrestleMania 42, it might be time to retire the alter ego.

As noted, the ‘Demon’ has lost its last two matches – to Roman Reigns in 2021 and Edge in 2023 – after a prior 13-1 record in NXT and WWE up to that point.

Dominik Mysterio is the kind of talent that can lose and it doesn’t really do him any harm – he’ll be just as over as a heel as he always has been coming out of it.

In Finn Balor’s case, however, especially now that he’s a babyface that fans are looking to get behind, he needs the win to prove that he can still be a winner on the big stage and is worthy of that fan support.
