Former Universal Champion Finn Balor has opened up about his time in NXT, and explained which former WWE Champion should join the black and gold brand.
Finn Balor knows NXT well. Currently in the midst of his second NXT Championship reign, Balor has fought everyone during his NXT tenure, from Adam Cole to Samoa Joe.
Speaking on WWE After The Bell, Balor noted that he’d love to see Randy Orton join NXT. Pointing out that Orton knows his stuff, Balor claimed that he’d learn a lot from working with Orton in Florida.
Although Balor is positive that Orton’s presence would improve both the product and the locker room, he also noted he wouldn’t turn down a Kevin Owens or Samoa Joe run if they returned to NXT.
Here is the full quote:
“I think we could all learn so much from Randy Orton, I know that’s a little bit of a different kind of idea, a lot of people would want me to say Kevin Owens, a lot of people would want me to say Ricochet. But I feel like Randy could bring NXT to the next level with regards to the effect he would have on the people around him, in the locker room, in the ring, his professionalism, his experience. If I could get a run with Kevin Owens, Samoa Joe, that would be incredible.”
Randy Orton and Finn Balor have never faced each other one on one, but were involved in a few matches together in early 2019.
Recently defeating Pete Dunne at NXT TakeOver: Vengeance Day, Finn Balor still holds the biggest prize in NXT. With rumours that Balor would bring the NXT Championship to WrestleMania 37, this would be an interesting rivalry for The Show of Shows.
