First Ever WWE Women’s Intercontinental Champion Crowned WWE

Tonight’s January 13 episode of WWE Raw played host to the crowning of the first ever Women’s Intercontinental Champion.

After a tournament throughout the past few weeks, the two finalists left standing were Dakota Kai and Lyra Valkyria.

Kai had defeated Shayna Baszler and Katana Chance in a three-way before winning her semi-final against Zoey Stark.

Meanwhile, Valkyria won her three-way against Zelina Vega and Ivy Nile, before scoring a semi-final win over IYO SKY.

Despite debuting a new entrance theme tonight, Dakota Kai couldn’t go all the way to become champion.

In tonight’s Kai vs Valkyria final, it was Valkyria who picked up the win to become the first ever Women’s Intercontinental Champion.

This marks her second title win in WWE, having previously held the NXT Women’s Title.

A few weeks ago, Chelsea Green won a similar tournament on the SmackDown brand to become the first Women’s United States Champion.
