The first match for the 14 June WWE pay-per-view Backlash was made official on the Monday, May 18 episode of Raw on USA Network.
Randy Orton and Edge will once again go at it, this time in a straight up wrestling match.
The two legends went to battle at WrestleMania last month, with Edge winning out in a 35-minute Last Man Standing match.
Orton laid out the challenge last week to a regular singles match at Backlash, saying that the better man won at WrestleMania, but the better wrestler didn’t.
Edge has now emphatically accepted the challenge, declaring that he has far more passion for the business than Orton does and ever has.
WWE is still having announcers dub the match a potential ‘greatest match ever’, and while that might be a little far-fetched, it’ll be interesting to see them go head-to-head in the ring rather than a brawl like last time.
