Last night’s episode of NXT was certainly not must-see television. On the show, WWE decided to show parts of three of the best matches of the year, and hand out the End of Year awards for 2019.
However, one of the more noteworthy things to come out of the show was the confirmation of the eight teams that will make up the 2020 Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic.
The following eight teams, four from NXT and four from NXT UK, have been chosen to fight in the prestigious tournament
- Matt Riddle and Pete Dunne
- Undisputed Era
- The Forgotten Sons
- KUSHIDA & TBA
- Gallus
- Flash Morgan Webster & Mark Andrews
- Imperium
- Grizzled Young Veterans
Now WWE has confirmed the bracket for the tournament, announcing some very exciting matches that we will see take place over the coming weeks.
The following have been announced as first-round matches that will be taking place over the next month or so:
- Imperium vs. The Forgotten Sons
- Matt Riddle & Pete Dunne vs. Mark Andrews & Flash Morgan Webster
- Grizzled Young Veterans vs. Kushida & TBA
- Gallus vs. Undisputed Era
Looking at the brackets, I don’t expect NXT UK’s teams to progress very far in the tournament. Perhaps the only NXT UK team that I think will win their first-round match will be Imperium.
I could see Matt Riddle and Pete Dunne making it all the way to the final to face Undisputed Era for the NXT Tag Team Championships, a match I could really get behind.
