WWE has announced the first round matches in the World Heavyweight Championship Tournament on tonight’s May 8 edition of WWE Raw.
As previously reported, Triple H announced that the tournament to determine the inaugural World Heavyweight Champion will kick off on tonight’s Raw.
There will be two triple threat matches with the winners of each match facing each other in the main event. Meanwhile, there will also be two more triple threat matches with the winners facing each other on this Friday’s May 12 edition of SmackDown.
The winners from each show this week will advance to face each other for the World Heavyweight Championship at Night of Champions on May 27.
On Monday afternoon, WWE posted a digital exclusive with Bryon Saxton announcing the two triple threat matches on tonight’s show.
It will be Seth Rollins vs. Shinsuke Nakamura vs. Damian Priest, while The Miz will face Finn Balor and Cody Rhodes in the second triple threat match. The winners will then face each other in the main event.
