Real Reason STARDOM Is No Longer On Top Streaming Service NJPW

Triller’s FITE TV service has become a one-stop shop for pro-wrestling in recent years, providing a convenient platform for which fans to watch events from the likes of AEW, NJPW, ROH and GCW.

Curiously however, despite the connection with New Japan, one promotion that is notably absent from FITE is STARDOM.

The sibling-promotion to NJPW was once featured on the service, however this is no longer the case.

According to FITE’s COO Mike Weber, the lack of STARDOM is not by choice on their end, revealing as such in an interview with POST Wrestling.

Weber explained:

“We actually have aired STARDOM in the past, and it’s done well.”

“They have a similar business model as New Japan has and TV Asahi. They really want to keep everything there.

“I think they’re putting it on New Japan World platform, so they do have their own platform. I disagree with that direction but that’s the direction they’re going.”

Weber does have his sights on getting other Japanese promotions on FITE in the future.

Weber revealed among those he hoped to bring to the platform were DragonGate and All Japan Pro Wrestling.

He would also explain how the drive to add more to the service is largely a solo mission on his part.

“I’m one guy doing this.”

“So it doesn’t get done quite as quickly as I wanna do it. I would like to do more and more. It’s very important to us to have the international wrestling.

“Where we have progressed is in the UK, working with more and more organisations there.”

March has been a good month for new partnership’s for FITE,  already securing Insane Championship Wrestling to its FITE+ service, following the expiration of the Scottish promotions deal with WWE Network.
