A former AEW World Champion has been confirmed for an upcoming independent wrestling anniversary show for his former promotion.
Making a return to his Pacific-Northwest roots, former AEW Champion Swerve Strickland has been confirmed for an appearance in DEFY.
The official account for the DEFY promotion wrote:
“Former 3x DEFY World Champion and AEW World Champion SWERVE Strickland returns to DEFY.
DEFY : HUNDREDTH
8 year anniversary of DEFY
FEBRUARY 7TH – WASHINGTON HALL”
Elsewhere set for the 8 year anniversary of DEFY, is another appearance from absent AEW star Ricky Starks.
Starks made a surprise appearance at DEFY Blueprint on December 29, challenging DEFY Champion KENTA to a title match at the upcoming event.
Swerve for his part has recently been engaged in a feud with Ricochet. After a brutal attack by Ricochet left Strickland bloodied, Swerve attempted to seek vengeance on the most recent episode of Dynamite (January 15).
He would however not get his hands on Ricochet, who narrowly escaped out of the building with Swerve giving chase into the Cincinnati winter night.
