A former AEW champion is reportedly now gone from the company and could potentially be on his way to joining WWE.
Over the last few months, the story of the Lucha Bros – Penta El Zero Miedo and Rey Fenix – has been covered extensively.
At one point, it looked nailed on that both Lucha Bros would leave AEW earlier this year and were heading to WWE.
However, that hit some hurdles as they both had injury time added to their contracts, Fenix considerably more than Penta.
Thus, according to Fightful Select, the belief is that Penta’s AEW contract has indeed expired and he’s now a free agent.
Their report reiterates that the same cannot be said for Fenix, who is still with AEW.
Previous reports had indicated that Fenix’s added injury time would be about a year, so he won’t be free to leave until way into 2025.
There are no further details right now on a potential WWE move other than what’s already been noted over the past few months, but Penta is said to have heavy interest from indie promoters.
Penta was a two-time champion in AEW having held the World Tag Team Championship with Fenix, and the World Trios Championship with Fenix and Pac.
