A former AEW star came out victorious in what is being claimed to be the longest match ever on record, clocking in at 21 hours, 49 minutes and 12 seconds.
Staged by Evil Uno’s Mystery Wrestling promotion and C*4 Wrestling’s ‘Fighting Back’ campaign, the 16 person match began on the afternoon of Monday, August 11 and concluded in the morning of Tuesday, August 12 in Gatineau, Quebec, Canada – being streamed live for free on Twitch and YouTube in its entirety.
Former AEW star Stu Grayson earned the honor of winning the record-breaking match, pinning Junior Benito to bring it to its finish.
Also featured in the bout alongside Grayson and Benito were: Top Dog, Xander Orion, Dante Dubois, Alvin Turner, Jason Exile, Mathis Myre, Gabriel Floyd, HADDY, Jeff Fury, Cecil Nyx, Dreya Mitchell, Katrina Creed, KJ Swayde and Joe Jobber.
After winning the bout, Grayson took to Twitter to celebrate the achievement of winning the match, and the fund-raising success of it.
Grayson wrote:
I’m the winner of the longest wrestling match ever !
Praise me !
21 hours, 49 minutes, 12 seconds!
We raised over $38 000 for the cancer society !!!
During the near 22 hour event and post-show, over $33,000 CAD was raised for the Canadian Cancer Society, with the match surpassing the previously recognised longest match ever from a Ehime Pro Wrestling event in 2021, which had a runtime of 21 hours, 44 minutes and 34 seconds.
Despite breaking the previous Guinness World Record, Evil Uno said that the match would not be recognised by the organization, due to Guinness wanting $16,000 to make it official.
