Former AEW Star Confirms WWE Talks

Former AEW Star Confirms WWE Talks WWE/AEW

A former AEW star has confirmed that they had conversations with WWE following their departure from the company.

Mike Santana made his return to TNA Wrestling at the Rebellion pay-per-view, where he was the surprise opponent for Steve Maclin on the show.

Santana had been with AEW since 2019, departing the company and becoming a free agent earlier this year before returning to TNA.

Speaking to Cultaholic, Santana spoke about his free agency, confirming that he had held talks with WWE following his departure from AEW.

He said:

“It was mainly [a feeling out]. There were conversations. It was nothing concrete, just seeing where both of our heads were at and seeing how things go. Every conversation that I had was great.”

Santana and former partner Ortiz had previously spoken to WWE in 2019 following their departure from IMPACT, before they ultimately ended up signing with AEW.

Ethan Page, who also recently departed AEW, made his surprise debut for NXT last month, competing in his first match at NXT Battleground in a defeat to Trick Williams.
