An update has emerged on the possibility of former AEW Women’s World Champion Mariah May joining WWE soon.
Reports emerged recently that May is in a “contract year” meaning her deal comes up some time in 2025. It’s believed she signed a two-year deal when she joined AEW in 2023.
Since then, talk has been heating up about a potential move to WWE, with some reports even pointing to people in AEW “expecting” that to be the case.
Regarding May’s contract status, PWInsider has provided an update, noting that May’s AEW deal still has “significant time” left on it, so an “imminent” WWE debut would be unexpected.
One source believed her contract will be up in November, while another said it could even be longer than that.
May has not been on the road with AEW since her loss to Toni Storm at Revolution on March 9.
Separately, Fightful Select reports that while there are indeed people in AEW who expect her to join WWE, other sources believe she’s “being wise” and maximizing her negotiating power.
AEW “absolutely hopes” May will stay with the company, according to Fightful.
