NJPW
A former champion is reportedly in active negotiations with NJPW ahead of the expiry of their existing contract.
On December 29 it was reported by Fightful Select’s Sean Ross Sapp that NJPW star Kevin Knight’s contract was set to expire in the “next few days”.
Speculation regarding Knight’s future would increase further when he and tag team partner KUSHIDA dropped their IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Championships to Ichiban Sweet Boys (Robbie Eagles & Kosei Fujita) at NJPW Wrestle Kingdom 19 on January 4.
Following this we now have an update on Knight’s NJPW contract status courtesy once again of Fightful Select.
According to a new update it is reported that Knight and NJPW are “actively negotiating” a new contract, however, there has not been any word on a deal being signed as of yet.
Knight recently received high praise from both WWE’s Natalya and Hall of Famer Mark Henry, the latter of which stated that the 28 year old was “ready for the big time”.
Elsewhere in the report, it is also noted that NJPW are expecting several other stars with expiring deals to also re-sign with the company, such as David Finlay, Gabe Kidd and TJP.
We will continue to provide updates on the contract statuses of Kevin Knight and others mentioned as more information becomes available.
