*** UPDATE – Davey Boy Smith has revealed that he will likely be returning to WWE soon ***
In the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer noted that former WWE star David Hart Smith (now going by Davey Boy Smith Jr) is believed to be returning to the company relatively soon.
Davey Boy Smith’s contract with MLW expired in December 2020, and reports suggesting that WWE, All Elite Wrestling (AEW), IMPACT Wrestling and New Japan Pro Wrestling were all interested in bringing the Canadian in.
Davey Boy Smith Jr., is another name that while not confirmed signed, is believed to be a good shot at coming in.
As Meltzer explained, Davey Boy Smith Jr is not believed to have actually re-signed with WWE after leaving the company in August 2011, but it is believed that he will likely be coming back into the company.
Smith was actually set to induct his father, The British Bulldog, into the WWE Hall of Fame last year alongside his sister and mother. However, the ceremony was cancelled due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
This comes after Davey Boy Smith Jr was defeated by fellow former WWE Superstar and current AEW name Jon Moxley at Bloodsport 5 last night. Taking to Twitter, Smith promised to be at Bloodsport 6 in April.
