Former Champion ‘Definitely’ Open To WWE Return WWE

A former WWE star is “definitely” open to returning to the company, over 15 years on from his exit.

Competing in WWE between 2005 and 2009, Ken Anderson (fka Mr. Kennedy) is someone many fans hoped to see receive another opportunity in the company one day, given how close he came to major success during his time there.

After winning the United States Championship in 2006, Anderson became Mr. Money in the Bank at WrestleMania 23 and seemed to be in line for a main event push, before a misdiagnosed triceps injury saw him drop his guaranteed world title opportunity to Edge.

While he would achieve great success in TNA Wrestling, he has yet to make his way back to WWE but revealed during an appearance on The Velvet Ropes with SoCalVal, that he is now “definitely” open to the idea after being adamantly against it for a long time after his 2009 departure.

Anderson said:

“The entire time that I was with TNA, and even some post-TNA, I was like, ‘Never, never, never.’ I just had no desire to ever go back to WWE.

“I look at the lay of the land there now and the way that things are, and I would definitely love to go back there. I’m a different person. Most of the people that are there… that are still there are different people. So for sure.”

When discussing his WWE release, Anderson recalled some advice he wish he took from Stone Cold Steve Austin following his exit:

“The thing about WWE that’s unfortunate is I didn’t leave on my own terms. That’s sort of something that irks me a little bit.

“I remember having a discussion with Steve Austin. Steve was like, ‘Kid, get out of there.’ He called me one day and he was like, ‘Get out of there. You know, you got some bad juju. This person doesn’t like you. This person doesn’t like you. Get out, go to Japan, go to TNA, get over. Do your thing, and then you can always come back,’”

“And I just never took him up on the offer. I waited too long. So I would love to go back and sort of make that thing right.”

Anderson remains active on the independent wrestling scene at the age of 49, with his most recent match coming on July 14.
