Former Champion Reveals Wrestling Plans Following WWE Departure WWE

Former NXT Women’s Tag Team Champion Shotzi has opened up about her future plans after parting ways with WWE.

Shotzi announced in May that she was departing WWE at the end of her contract, with it being reported that she received “overwhelming interest” after sharing the news.

Returning to her Shotzi Blackheart name, the former WWE star has revealed her plans to become a movie director, but now also revealed her goals on the independent wrestling scene.

With her first two independent matches since her WWE departure now under her belt, Blackheart has revealed she wants to “take over the indies.”

Speaking to Denise Salcedo, Blackheart stated that she wanted to dethrone Matt Cardona as independent wrestling royalty, saying:

“For the rest of this year, my goal is to just completely take over the indies. Like, I want to wrestle the biggest names on the indies and I want to take all of the gold at all of my favorite promotions on the Indies.

“I just want to completely take over and I want to take Matt Cardona’s seat on the Indie iron throne. Like I want to become the new Indie God, which I’ve already labelled myself it because you know, if you want it, you got to manifest it.”

Cardona has gone on to remarkable success as a free agent on the independent wrestling scene since being released in April 2020 – even referring to himself as “The Indy God”.

During her time in WWE, Shotzi was well-remembered for an entrance that included a small tank, something that she is trying to get back from the company.

Signing with WWE in October 2019, Shotzi would go on to become NXT Women’s Tag Team Champion alongside Ember Moon (currently Athena in AEW & ROH).
