After weeks of rumour and speculation, it was reported earlier on this week that WWE had purchased independent promotion EVOLVE.
EVOLVE is rumoured to have been hit rather hard by the Coronavirus pandemic, with the promotion unable to put on shows like the likes of WWE, Impact and AEW.
Some have speculated that now that NXT is on the USA Network, EVOLVE could fulfil the role that NXT used to have, where developmental talent are sent to practise before they appear on TV.
Others have theorised that WWE could just put all of EVOLVE’s previous content on the WWE Network, something that they have been rumoured to have been interested in for a while now.]
Dave Meltzer is reporting in the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter that EVOLVE owner Gabe Sapolsky is expected to join WWE rather soon and be part of the NXT creative team.
“Sal Hamaoui, who ran Evolve with Gabe Sapolsky since its inception, will continue to promote shows under the WWN banner with his FIP, Shine and ACW brands. Gabe Sapolsky will not be involved any longer as he is expected to be working full-time for WWE as part of NXT creative.”
There is no word on how influential Sapolsky is going to be with NXT moving forward and when he will officially sign. For the latest on that, stay tuned to WrestleTalk.com
