Former NXT Star Accuses WWE Of Telling Her To Lose Weight

Taking to social media over the weekend, former NXT star Sage Beckett (real name MaryKate Glidewell) accused WWE of asking her to lose more weight while she worked for the company between 2017 and 2018.

In a scathing Twitter post, Beckett accused WWE of telling her to lose more weight so that she’d be “more marketable”. She also slammed the company for releasing her on International Women’s Day:

“Or hire you during the “Evolution”, AFTER you’ve already lost 130#s over the last 2yrs, then do weekly weigh ins w/ you b/c you need to lose MORE weight, to be marketable, & release you ON International Women’s Day”

Beckett was responding to a comment made by fellow former WWE star Maria Kanellis, who slammed the company for firing her just two months after she had given birth to her second child.

For those that don’t know, Beckett joined WWE in 2017 and went on to appear in that year’s Mae Young Classic, where she lost in the first round to Raw star Bianca Belair. Beckett was then released by the company the following year.

In another Twitter post, this time responding to Presidential candidate Andrew Yang, Beckett said that she has no desire to return to WWE:

“Been there & lived that. No desire to go back. The industry is a train wreck. WWE isn’t the only company that does this…just the most affluent. That rabbit hole is deep…That’s what happens when the 45th disappointment is in your hall of fame”

Speaking of Andrew Yang, the former Presidential Candidate threatened government action against WWE over the weekend on social media. You can read more about that story by clicking here.
