Former NXT Wrestler Appears In AEW Crowd

AEW has been having wrestlers appear in the crowd for weeks during Coronavirus. However, tonight’s Dynamite had a different face in the crowd.

For those eagle-eyed fans, they may have spotted a former NXT Wrestler unexpectedly standing around ringside. Cesar Bononi was spotted in the crowd during the post-match brawl between Hikaru Shida and Penelope Ford.

Bononi made his television debut on the May 10, 2017 episode of NXT, losing to Aleister Black. He would go on to have his first televised victory on the May 31 episode of NXT, defeating Andrade “Cien” Almas.

Bononi was named “Future Star of NXT” at the 2017 NXT Year-End Awards. He was released from his WWE contract in April of 2020.

There’s no word if he’ll be appearing for NXT, but based on recent trends, he could very likely be appearing on Dark soon. Most of the folks in the crowd in AEW have worked on Dark or Dynamite.
