A former WWE star’s involvement in the company’s new Independent Development (WWE ID) program has been revealed.
WWE has been announcing the first signings of it’s new WWE Independent Development program over the past few days, including Cappuccino Jones, Zayda Steel and Sean Legacy.
Following last night’s episode of SmackDown, WWE shared a video of William Regal offering WWE ID deals to two more names, Marcus Mathers and Sam Hardway Holloway.
Regal has been a key figure in the program, and he is not the only former WWE star with involvement in the program.
Per Fightful Select (subscription required), was told that former WWE star Timothy Thatcher is also involved in the program, in what is believed to be some sort of coaching or training capacity.
In addition to the current announced names, WWE has some more familiar names in the fold that they are planning to reveal, with Fightful noting that the ID program will also extend to talent on the independents who have been signed to major companies in the past, assuming they are a good fit.
Many of the deals were solidified a while ago, and some of the talent signed have already worked AEW or ROH dates since starting talks.
Thatcher was released from WWE back in 2021 after a year in NXT ahead of the brand’s revamp to NXT 2.0 in September that year.
