Former TNA World Tag Team Champion and X-Division Champion, Doug Williams has now been announced for ROH: Past vs. Present. Williams will be facing off against Jonathan Gresham.
Williams was the TNA World Tag Team Champion alongside current NWA Worlds Champion, Nick Aldis. The duo also held the NJPW Tag Team Championships together.
The two could face off a second time in the ROH Pure Title Tournament. Williams, a well-known wrestler on the British wrestling scene, was the second-ever ROH Pure Champion.
He won the title by defeating Alex Shelley in the first ROH Pure Championship Title Tournament back in 2004. Williams is 47 years old and retired back in 2018.
However, it looks like ROH has brought him back out of retirement for the two-night tournament in April. While Williams might be the sentimental favorite, Gresham has to be the odds on favorite to win the whole thing.
Gresham’s wrestling style lends itself perfectly to the Pure Championship rules which force wrestlers to battle it out in the ring. You can find the rest of the Past vs. Present card here.
