There was reportedly talk of having WWE Hall of Famer Kurt Angle return to IMPACT Wrestling at last month’s Bound For Glory show. However, discussions between the two parties ultimately broke down.
It has since emerged that Angle wasn’t the only person that IMPACT tried to bring in recently, as there were reportedly talks about bringing in a former UFC star to feud with Ken Shamrock.
According to Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, IMPACT Wrestling made an attempt to bring in Chael Sonnen for a feud with Hall of Famer and former WWE star Ken Shamrock:
“Chael Sonnen had discussions about coming here for a feud with Ken Shamrock but ultimately decided against it.”
For those that don’t know, Chael Sonnen is a 43-year-old former mixed martial aritst who has gone on to work as an analyst for ESPN since stepping away from the octagon. At this time, it’s unclear why he opted not to join IMPACT.
This is not the first that Sonnen has supposedly had an offer to join a wrestling company. Chael stated last year that he was offered $5million to cancel a scheduled UFC fight and join WWE in 2012.
