Former WCW Star Shares Update On AEW Backstage Role

A former WCW star has shared an update on his current role backstage in AEW, having been there for around a year.

In June 2024, it was reported that Glacier had been hired by AEW and would be serving as a producer and coach.

Glacier has now shared an update on his role within the company during a recent appearance on AEW Unrestricted.

The former WCW star revealed that he found himself in the AEW orbit after a conversation with QT Marshall and Sanjay Dutt, saying:

“I said, ‘If there’s ever an opening for a coaching position, you know how much I love coaching and teaching and mentoring,’ and so the conversation started and then eventually, I end up talking to Sonjay — Sonjay Dutt… We start talking and put the wheels in motion.”

Glacier is not only a wrestler but a skilled martial artist who has also expanded his repertoire to include acting roles.

Reflecting on his first year in a coaching role, Glacier would share his love of the job and being able to work with young wrestlers, stating:

“I don’t know if I can put it into words how much I absolutely love going to work and doing this because I love being around wrestling, I love being around the next generation and anything that I can do to help in any way, I’m gladly willing to do so.

“I’m a very, very fortunate person and I don’t take it for granted at all.”

Among the stars to benefit from the experience of Glacier are Darby Allin, HOOK and Billie Starkz.

Glacier made his AEW debut in the Double or Nothing 21-Man Casino Battle Royale in 2019 and continues to perform on an occasional basis with his most recently match being in February 2024.
