Former World Champion Set For WWE Return At Worlds Collide

Former World Champion Set For WWE Return At Worlds Collide WWE

A former world champion is set to make their WWE return at tomorrow’s Worlds Collide event (June 7).

UPDATE: PWInsider’s initial JBL report stated “JBL is slated to be at tomorrow’s Worlds Collide as well”. They then updated that to “We are also told JBL is slated to be in Los Angeles tomorrow, so he could pop up at Money In the Bank or Worlds Collide as well. He’s popped up regularly at major AAA shows over last year”. They have now updated again to state: “Since then, WWE sources have reached out to state that JBL is not slated for the Worlds Collide broadcast.”

The Kia Forum in Inglewood, CA will play host to WWE & AAA Worlds Collide tomorrow afternoon – the first big crossover event involving the two companies since WWE announced the acquisition of the Mexican promotion during WrestleMania 41 weekend.

Five matches are official for the card at the time of writing, however, it appears there may also be some special appearances lined up for the show that have not yet been announced.

While it was previously reported that Dominik Mysterio and Liv Morgan were being discussed to appear at the show, PWInsider Elite (via Wrestlingnews.co) has shared a new update revealing another potential surprise appearance.

According to a new report, former WWE Champion John Bradshaw Layfield is slated to appear at Worlds Collide.

JBL is no stranger to AAA, having made several appearances in the promotion within the last year and aligning himself with former AAA Mega Champion Alberto El Patron.

Patron lost his championship to El Hijo Del Vikingo at AAA’s May 31 event, so it’s unclear what JBL will be doing on the show as of this time.

In other backstage news for Worlds Collide, PWInsider Elite revealed that AAA’s creative team going forward will be a combination of Jeremy Borash, Konnan and Moody Jack Melendez.

Konnan and Melendez will reportedly be at Worlds Collide tomorrow – with Melendez also visiting the WWE Performance Center earlier this week along with former WWE star Savio Vega – who is reportedly set to be a backstage producer at Worlds Collide.

We will continue to provide updates on WWE Worlds Collide as the show approaches.

It was reported earlier today that WWE were considering bringing in a veteran commentator for Worlds Collide – click here for full details.
