Former WWE And IMPACT Star Wins Title In NWA

Last night on the United Wrestling Network’s weekly paid show on FITE Network, The Pope D’Angelo Dinero won the NWA Television Title. The Television Title was brought back in January with The NWA creating Powerrr, a weekly YouTube series.

The reinstated title was originally won by Ricky Starks, who now works in AEW. Starks dropped the title to Zicky Dice on an episode of NWA Powerrr that aired on March 3, 2020.

Dice held the title until last night’s UWN PrimeTime Live show. The Pope narrowly defeated Dice in a back and forth match.

The Pope wrestled as Elijah Burke in WWE. He originally debuted on WWE SmackDown alongside Sylvester Terkay. After an up and down run, Burke found his way to TNA.

While in TNA, Burke transformed into The Pope D’Angelo Dinero. His character actually got over with TNA/IMPACT fans. However, this never translated into any kind of title win.

While Dinero has won some titles in smaller promotions, this win has to be considered the biggest title of his career. Burke won most improved wrestler during his time in TNA and actually climbed to number 36 in the PWI 500.

Congratulations to Dinero on his big win. The UWN show has been delivering quite a good series of NWA title matches while NWA Powerrr has been on hiatus.
