A former WWE name made his official on-screen debut at AEW All In Texas 2025 during the Zero Hour pre-show that aired on YouTube.
The pre-show panel was mainly made up of Renee Paquette, RJ City, Jeff Jarrett, and Paul Wight, but they were joined for a while by an interesting name.
Josh Mathews made his on-screen debut as a panelist on the pre-show, as well as conducting a backstage interview with Swerve Strickland and Will Ospreay.
Mathews was with WWE from 2001 all the way up until 2014.
He was runner-up in the first season of Tough Enough in 2001 that was won by Maven, before officially signing with the company and being used as a broadcast personality, whether it be as a backstage interviewer, show host, or on commentary.
He called the majority of WrestleMania 27 in 2011 alongside Michael Cole and Jerry Lawler.
In 2014, Josh Mathews was released by WWE and would soon go on to work for Impact Wrestling/TNA as the lead announcer for a number of years.
In 2015, he married Madison Rayne, who has worked for AEW as a coach and wrestler since 2022.
Earlier this year, it emerged that Mathews had been working for AEW in a backstage capacity.
He has described his role as “shadowing Mike Mansury”, who is AEW’s head of production.
