Former WWE referee Jimmy Korderas has assessed the finish to the main event of WrestleMania 37 with Roman Reigns pinning both opponents.
Roman Reigns placed Edge on top of Bryan before pinning them both with both guys’ shoulders on the mat. The question is, should Edge have a gripe because he was on top of Bryan?
Speaking with Wrestling Inc, Korderas explained that Edge could well have a point. He said:
“Absolutely, because yes, he’s not initiating the pin, but then again, he is in direct contact and on top of the person who is being pinned. In theory, he does have a gripe, and it’s an unusual situation, which I’ve never encountered before. It’d be interesting to hear other referees’ perspectives on this as well.
“You can institute instant replay. That I have done before. I don’t know if I’m the only one, but I believe I was the first referee to ever institute instant replay in a wrestling match. It was Batista vs Undertaker in a cage match on SmackDown, where they both exited the cage on opposite sides, and we had to go back to the replay to see if they landed at the same time.”
You’d imagine this could be addressed on tonight’s episode of SmackDown, which we’ll be covering live here on the site later tonight.
Charles Robinson, who refereed that match, tweeted:
Four shoulders were on the mat. Roman was on top of both and in charge. It’s my discretion and that’s the final call.
Also set for SmackDown is a Tag Team Championship match as well as Otis vs Rey Mysterio.
