Former WWE Star Believes He Can ‘Be Himself’ In AEW WWE/AEW

A former WWE star has noted that they feel an increased sense of opportunity in AEW after having felt ‘suppressed’ for some time previously.

In a chat with Renee Paquette for AEW Close Up, The Hurt Syndicate opened up about the journey to signing with All Elite Wrestling.

For his part, Shelton Benjamin shared his thoughts on his new opportunities in AEW.

Noting that he had felt ‘suppressed’ in the business for some time, Benjamin feels inspired by the opportunity to show fans more of himself.

Shelton Benjamin said:

“I definitely feel like I’ve been suppressed. I’ve been in the business for a little bit. I’ve done a few things.

“I definitely felt like here in AEW I’ve had the opportunity to show fans who I really am, what I really can do, and not me doing what I had to do for the people I worked with previously.

“I love that I can be me here at AEW.”

Shelton Benjamin recently debuted in AEW along with fellow WWE alum, MVP and Bobby Lashley.

Benjamin has already competed in three matches on Dynamite, beating Sammy Guevara and Lio Rush before losing to Swerve Strickland.

The Hurt Syndicate did beatdown Strickland after the match, leading to the debut of Bobby Lashley.

Lashley will face Strickland at the upcoming AEW Full Gear 2024 pay-per-view.
