Former WWE Star Calls Current Announcer ‘This Generation’s Jim Ross’ AEW

Former WWE star and current Senior Vice President of Live Events Road Dogg has heaped massive praise on over 25-year commentary veteran Michael Cole, comparing him to the legendary Jim Ross.

Speaking on his ‘Oh… You Didn’t Know’ Podcast, Road Dogg hailed Cole and called on people to show him more respect for his efforts and longevity at the commentary booth.

Road Dogg said:

He’s still there today doing it man.”

“And doing it better — I’d say this is our generation’s Jim Ross … Michael Cole’s the deal.

“He’s the voice of the WWE, no doubt.”

Before praising Cole, Road Dogg also told a story of the Smackdown announcer’s early days in the company, specifically a shooting for a super-soaker commercial involving himself, Billy Gunn, X-Pac and Cole.

Despite clear instructions to not shoot Cole with the water gun due to his make-up already been applied, Road Dogg said that X-Pac and himself didn’t follow those orders, saying:

“Michael Cole, it was like his first week there, and he was in the commercial with us.”

“And they came to us and said, ‘No matter what, don’t shoot him in the face.’

Okay, here we go, and Kid looks at me and he goes, ‘In his face, right?’ I said, ‘You damn right!'”

In an appearance on the Pat McAfee show in early May, Cole hinted at when he could potentially wind-down his career after over 25 years in his role.
