Former WWE Star Denies Having ‘Heat’ With John Cena Over Past Creative Decision

A former WWE star has denied having “heat” with John Cena over an infamous past creative decision.

Back at SummerSlam 2010, Team WWE took on The Nexus in a seven vs. seven tag team match after the group of NXT upstarts ran roughshod throughout the company that Summer.

Despite riding high and building momentum heading into the pay-per-view, The Nexus did not get the better of Team WWE, with John Cena overcoming unfavourable odds to put away Justin Gabriel and Wade Barrett single-handedly to get the win – a creative decision that has drawn much criticism from fans in the years since.

Appearing on The Ariel Helwani Show, former Nexus member David Otunga was asked if he has “heat” with Cena for the result, to which he said:

“No heat at all. It was his decision. I don’t think it was the right decision, if you ask John and he was being honest I don’t think he thinks it was the right decision in hindsight. But no there’s no heat there at all, no animosity.

“Hey man, this is entertainment. To me this is like a movie or a TV show. I can’t get mad because another character who’s the lead, who’s been there longer, they want something to go a different way. I’m a rookie, I just showed up. I’m happy to be here, I’m happy to be in the main event.”
