A former WWE Champion has said that they want to end their career in AEW and ‘give back’ to the younger wrestlers on the roster.
Former WWE Champion Bobby Lashley made his debut for AEW back on the Fright Night Dynamite episode of Dynamite in October, confronting Swerve Strickland after Swerve’s victory against Shelton Benjamin.
Lashley would end up defeating Swerve at Full Gear in his first pay-per-view match in AEW, and with the Hurt Syndicate now rolling on AEW television, Lashley has discussed his future with the company.
Speaking to Denise Salcedo at today’s AEW All In Texas Countdown to On Sale, Lashley said that he wants to end his career in AEW and give back to the younger wrestlers on the roster.
He said:
“I want to go out with a bang. Everybody says that they want to end their career in a certain way, and that’s what I want to do, I want to end my career here in AEW, but one thing I want to be able to do is I want to be able to blow and show the Hurt Syndicate, what we are able to do when we get that opportunity.
“But then again, what I want to do is I wanna be able to help out some of these guys here. When I had an opportunity to come and meet some of the guys at AEW, there are some amazing talent wrestlers out there, so what I want to do is I want to have some storylines with some of those guys, I want to wrestle some matches that people didn’t really think of when I moved over, I want to do some of those matches that are like ‘I didn’t know that I really needed that match, but I love the fact that I got it’, so that’s what I want.
“I want to be able to do some big things for AEW, promote the brand, give back to Tony, give back to a lot of the wrestlers, because when I first started in wrestling there was a lot people that helped mold my career, build my career, and I want to be able to give that back to some of these younger guys.”
Bryan Danielson was also present at today’s event, where he gave an update on his in-ring future.
