Released WWE Star Cut From NFL Team

Released WWE Star Cut From NFL Team WWE/NFL

Following his signing with the Buffalo Bills, former WWE star Gable Steveson has come up short in his bid to make it in the NFL.

After arriving in WWE with much hope and expectation, US Olympic gold medal winning wrestler Gable Steveson’s three years in the company came to an end on May 3 – being one of several cuts on the NXT brand.

Steveson made the move to professional football and officially signed on with the NFL’s Buffalo Bills.

On August 27, Gable Steveson was waived by the Buffalo Bills as the team cut down their roster to the 53-man limit.

It remains to be seen whether he will end up part of the Bills’ practice squad. With no prior experience in football, it was unlikely that Steveson would make the team out of training camp.

In speaking about his cut from the roster, NFL insider Mike Garafolo tweeted:

“The #Bills are waiving DL Gable Steveson, source says. Former wrestler is a developmental prospect so this won’t be the end of the line for him, whether in Buffalo as a member of the practice squad or elsewhere.”

Gable Steveson recently said he was “baffled” by his departure after positive talks with WWE higher-ups, which you can read here.
