Following his arrival in the company, former WWE Intercontinental Champion Ricochet says there would be no AEW without him.
After six years with WWE, Ricochet left the company and signed with All Elite Wrestling, debuting at AEW All In London 2024.
Before his WWE run, the former United States Champion was one of the hottest stars on the independent scene through a long run of exciting and innovative matches.
In a new interview with The Hot Tag podcast, Ricochet stated that he feels without him, there would be no AEW. He said:
“I’m not saying that I’m the sole reason. I’m just saying, if there wasn’t Ricochet, there would not be AEW. I’m not saying I’m the sole reason that has happened.”
On the critically acclaimed matches he had with Will Ospreay, PAC and AR Fox in Dragon Gate, PWG and New Japan Pro Wrestling, Ricochet said:
“Everything I feel I have done in my past career helped set up a world where AEW can exist.”
“I’m not saying it’s just me. It’s me, it’s The Young Bucks, it’s Kenny Omega, it’s Ospreay, it’s everybody but I’m just saying. Without Ricochet, there would be no Ospreay really.”
“All of the guys are passionate. Without that there would be no AEW…”
Ricochet is currently competing in the Gold League of the AEW Continental Classic tournament. The final four of the tournament will compete in the semifinals and finals on Saturday, December 28 at AEW Worlds End.
