Former WWE Star Retires, Wins Final Match

Former WWE Star Retires, Wins Final Match WWE

A former WWE talent has officially retired from professional wrestling in-ring action, picking up a win in his final match.

A number of weeks ago, ‘Wild Boar’ Mike Hitchman announced his final match would be taking place on Sunday, October 19.

Wild Boar had been signed to WWE as part of the NXT UK roster from 2018 to 2022.

He notably teamed with ‘Primate’ Jay Melrose in a tag team known as The Hunt, and had a rarely seen dog collar match against Eddie Dennis.

On Sunday, Hitchman did indeed have his final match, as he teamed with his idol Rhino in a team known as Boar & Gore to pick up a win against the Greedy Souls team of Brendan White and Danny Jones at Slammasters Wrestling in Cardiff, Wales.

After the match, Hitchman took to social media, stating:

I will get back to everyone as soon as I can. Overwhelmed is an understatement… it’s hard for me to put tonight into words.

A number of UK wrestling stars paid tribute, including another former WWE talent in Mark Andrews, who posted:

Today one of my oldest friends retires from professional wrestling.

I met Hitch in 2006 in Newport Leisure centre and recognised him from some crazy backyard wrestling videos I watched online (Go check those out if you haven’t already 👀).

Since then he’s become one of my best friends, the person I’ve been in the ring with most and a huge mentor to the Welsh wrestling scene.

I’m a better wrestler and a better person for knowing Hitch. He’s one of the best wrestling coaches in the world, and one of the best to ever come out of the UK.

His work in and outside the ring has left the Welsh wrestling scene in a much better place than where it was in 2006.

Here’s to an incredible in ring career 🍻

And here’s to many more years making the Welsh scene as good as it can be behind the scenes 🐗

We wish Hitchman all the best following his retirement.
