Former WWE Star Returns On NXT

A former WWE star made his return to the company’s programming during tonight’s July 15 episode of NXT on the CW Network.

With the consistent crossovers between NXT and TNA, large portions of tonight’s show were dedicated to building TNA’s Slammiversary pay-per-view, which takes place on Sunday, July 20.

One NXT-related match at Slammiversary will see NXT star Trick Williams defend the TNA World Championship in a three-way match against Joe Hendry and Mike Santana.

Tonight on NXT, those three had to try and coexist in a six-man tag team match against DarkState members Saquon Shugars, Dion Lennox and Osiris Griffin.

After things broke down between the team of Williams, Hendry and Santana – namely with the latter two punching Williams – Hendry and Santana essentially found themselves in a two-on-five situation, as DarkState had Cutler James at ringside as well.

However, the numbers were evened up when more TNA stars made their appearances, namely Eddie Edwards, Brian Myers and JDC of The System.

This marks the first WWE appearance for Myers in a number of years. Formerly known as Curt Hawkins, he had two stints with WWE – from 2006 to 2014, and then from 2016 to 2020.

JDC was known as Fandango in WWE, but he has previously made appearances on NXT as part of the TNA crossovers, while this was Myers’ first time doing so.

A five-on-five brawl ended up breaking out with The System, Hendry and Santana standing tall.

Also tonight, TNA Knockouts Champion Masha Slamovich is present and will team with Sol Ruca and Zaria against Fatal Influence in the main event.

At Slammiversary, Slamovich faces Fatal Influence member NXT Women’s Champion Jacy Jayne in a title vs title match.
